Yes, we can provide personalised engraving on our lacquerware. The engraving is placed on the inside lid of our containers or on the bottom of our trays. Please contact customer service for a quotation.
Every Forbidden Hill product is designed by the Forbidden Hill team in Singapore and then brought to life in South East Asia. All of our production partners are carefully-selected, family-run businesses in the region.
Our showroom is located at 23 Bukit Pasoh Rd, Level 2. We are open for walk-ins on weekday afternoons from 2-6.30pm, and open by appointment on weekday mornings and Saturdays. Check here for more information.
In the 14th Century, Singapore was a thriving maritime kingdom on the Silk Road of the Sea, attracting traders and adventurers from all over South East Asia, as well as China, India, Europe and the Middle East. At that time, Singapore’s first Kings lived on a hill known as Bukit Larangan, which in English translates to the Forbidden Hill. It was believed to be forbidden to go up the hill unless you were from the royal family or worked for their court. The hill, which is now known as Fort Canning, overlooked the early multicultural settlement based at the foot of the hill.
Today’s Forbidden Hill carries the same adventurous spirit of that era - experimenting with new forms and functionality, while blending the rich cultures and craft traditions of Southeast Asia with contemporary style and materials.
Orders
We strive to process all orders as quickly as possible. Typically, they are processed within 1-2 business days. However, please note that processing times may vary during peak seasons.
If you need to modify or cancel your order, please get in touch with our customer service team. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request, but please note that modifications or cancellations are not likely to be possible once an order has been shipped.
Yes, we offer a complimentary gift-wrapping service. Our gift-wrapped items are placed in an elegant green gift box and tied with a ribbon. If you would like this service, please select the gift-wrapping option before adding your items to the cart, and we will make sure that your items are ready for gifting. (Please note though that once gift wrapped, you will not be able to look inside the gift box without undoing the ribbon).
Yes, you can add a personal message to be printed on our beautifully embossed gift message cards. Add your message in the gift message field before adding your items to the cart. We will include the gift message card with your message in the order, to add your personal touch to the gift.
If you encounter any issues with your order or delivery, please reach out to our customer service team. We will look into it straight away and do our best to resolve the issue quickly.
Shipping & Returns
We offer free delivery within Singapore with a minimum spend of SGD 30, with delivery within 1 - 2 working days. We can also deliver to hotels for customers visiting Singapore.

Returns & Exchanges
To exchange or return an item, please contact us at customer.serivce@forbiddenhill.com
We hope that you love your Forbidden Hill item – however if you have changed your mind, we accept exchange or return requests within 30 days of receipt of your order.
Your item can be exchanged for the same item in a different size or colour, subject to availability. Exchanges for a completely different item are accepted at the discretion of Forbidden Hill. Items can only be exchanged if they are in perfect condition and have not been worn or used. Exchanged items can only be dispatched after the returned items have been received and undergone a quality control check.
Please note that the items must be accompanied by the purchase receipt or a gift receipt, and the original packaging.
For products that are damaged, faulty or incorrectly shipped through our own error, we would be happy to exchange it for the same item within 30 days of receipt of your order.
For returns or exchanges due to manufacturing defects or errors on our part, we will provide a prepaid shipping label. For other returns or exchanges, the cost of the shipping is the customer's responsibility. Alternatively, if you are in Singapore, you can make the return or exchange in-person at our showroom.
Yes, we do accept exchanges and returns, even if you are outside Singapore. However, please note that you will be responsible for the shipping costs from the exchange or return process, unless the exchange or return is due to a defect or error on our part. We also recommend using a trackable shipping method to ensure the safe delivery of the returned items.
Once we receive your returned items, we will carefully inspect the items to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. You’ll receive an email confirmation once the quality control check has been completed, typically within 5-7 business days. You can expect your refund within 14 days, which will be issued in the form of the original payment. Please allow one to two billing cycles for your account to be credited.
Yes. If you would like to exchange your jewellery for a different item, please contact our customer service team, and they will guide you through the exchange process.
Refunds for eligible returns will be issued to the original form of payment used during the purchase. You can expect your refund within 14 days, which will be issued in the form of the original payment. Please allow one to two billing cycles for your account to be credited.

Our rewards program is designed to show our appreciation of our valued customers. You will earn loyalty points that can be redeemed for future discounts. To join our rewards program, create an account on our website and start earning points with every purchase.
You earn points from purchases made directly on our website or from our showroom. For every Singapore Dollar spent, you earn 1 point.
You can view your rewards balance and redeem points by logging into your account and visiting the rewards section. You will find information about your accumulated points and vouchers to redeem for your next purchase.
Login to your Forbidden Hill account. Click on check rewards and you’ll have the option to redeem your points and receive a discount for your next purchase.
Rewards can be redeemed for discounts on eligible purchases. However, certain items or promotions may be excluded from redemptions.
Rewards can’t be combined with other promotions or discounts unless it’s explicitly stated.
Jewellery Care
To keep your pieces looking their best, avoid contact with chemicals, perfumes and creams. We recommend removing your jewellery when cleaning or engaging in strenuous exercise, as chemicals and sweat can damage the metals. We also recommend removing your jewellery when bathing, showering or swimming as water can cause discolouration of the metals and silks (though splashes of water and some rain is not an issue).
You should also keep away from abrasive surfaces when wearing your Silk Bangles and Silk Cuffs.
Storing your jewellery properly is essential to maintaining its beauty, especially in humid climates. Your jewellery should be kept in a cool, dry area, away from sunlight, extreme temperatures and humidity. Store your pieces in the soft pouch provided with your Forbidden Hill Jewellery, or neatly separate them in a jewellery box. This will help to avoid scratches and to protect them from the open air, which can cause tarnishing over time.
We also recommend placing silica gel or anti-tarnish strips inside the jewellery pouch or storage box. If the pieces are to be left in a humid room for an extended period, we highly recommend sealing the pieces in an airtight/zip-lock bag with the silica gel or anti-tarnish strips, particularly if they are plated pieces. Generally, water can cause tarnishing, discolouration, or loosening of gemstones. Therefore, to help prevent damage and keep your jewellery looking its best, we recommend removing your pieces before swimming, showering, or participating in activities that may expose them to excessive moisture or chemicals.
Silk Bangle & Silk Cuffs
Metal
- After wearing your Bangle or Cuff, gently wipe the metal frame with a soft facial tissue or cotton wool to remove any chemicals, oils or sweat.
- Periodically clean your Bangle or Cuff with a soft facial tissue and some rubbing alcohol. Do not use paper towels to clean your jewellery to avoid scratching the metal.
- Should any tarnishing occur, gently polish with our Forbidden Hill jewellery polishing cloth. Rub the piece in one direction rather than in circular motions. If your Bangle is Rhodium or Gold-plated, do not rub excessively while polishing to avoid removing the plating.
Silk Slides
- Dip your Silk Slides in lukewarm or cool water, apply a drop of delicate detergent on both sides and gently rub into the fabric to lift off dust and stains.
- Wait for a couple of minutes before rinsing the Silk Slides under cold running water and remove all traces of detergent. Do not leave them resting in the water for more than 2-3 minutes.
- After washing, soak up any excess water by pressing the Silk Slides between clean paper towels. Discard the paper towels and let the Silk Slides dry naturally in the open air.
Earrings
Metal
- Periodically clean your Earrings with a soft facial tissue and some rubbing alcohol. Do not use paper towels to clean your jewellery to avoid scratching the metal.
- Should any tarnishing occur, gently polish with our Forbidden Hill jewellery polishing cloth. Rub the piece in one direction rather than in circular motions. If your Earrings are Rhodium or Gold-plated, do not rub excessively while polishing to avoid removing the plating.
Gemstones
- Your gemstones need to be handled with care, especially when switching one set out of the earrings for another set.
- After wearing, you can gently wipe your gemstones with a soft damp cloth, though very porous gemstones are best cleaned with a soft dry cloth. It is best to avoid contact with hot water, chemicals and cleaners on all gemstones, as they could damage the stone’s surface.
- Do not use paper towels or dry tissues to clean your gemstones to avoid scratching them.
If you live in Singapore, you are welcome to visit our showroom for a complimentary cleaning by appointment. We would be happy to provide periodic professional cleaning and inspection of your jewellery to help maintain their lustre.
Tarnishing is a natural process for sterling silver, as well as many types of plated jewellery. To minimise tarnish, store silver and gold-plated jewellery in an airtight container or a jewellery box with anti-tarnish strips. This helps reduce exposure to air and slows down the tarnishing process. Read more about storing your jewellery and caring for plated jewellery.
Lacquerware Care
Lacquerware is easily scratched so should be handled carefully like porcelain and kept away from abrasive items.
You can clean your lacquerware with warm soapy water using a soft sponge or furniture polish using a soft cloth. Do not use paper towels or dry tissues to wipe your lacquerware.
Do not place your lacquerware in a dishwasher or microwave, or expose it to direct sunlight.
Materials and Contents
Yes, our jewellery is nickel-free.
Yes, all of our gemstones are genuine gemstones. The majority of our gemstones are natural gemstones. However, our Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds are lab-grown gemstones. They are genuine gemstones – just formed over a period of weeks in a lab instead of millions of years ago underground.
Unlike imitation gemstones, lab-grown gemstones are chemically, physically and optically identical to their natural counterparts. They are graded in the same way as natural gemstones and it takes an extremely trained eye, high magnification and other specialist instruments to tell the difference.
Lab-grown gemstones have a lighter carbon footprint than mined gemstones. They also have fewer flaws and inclusions because of the controlled environment that they are grown in.
Warranty
We provide a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase.
Our warranty covers all Forbidden Hill jewellery. It protects against defects in materials and craftsmanship, such as faulty clasps and loose gemstones.
The warranty does not include damage caused by improper handling, accidents, misuse, alterations, and/or exposure to harsh chemicals. The warranty also does not cover normal wear and tear, or tarnishing. It’s important to follow our Jewellery Care instructions and to handle your pieces carefully to keep them looking their best and prevent any damage that may fall outside the warranty coverage.
To make a warranty claim, simply drop us an email at customer.service@forbiddenhill.com and we will provide you with more instructions on how to proceed with the claim. You will be required to return the item to Forbidden Hill and if found defective, we will be happy to repair, replace or exchange the item for you at no additional cost.
