Jalan Besar
The Jalan Besar Collection takes its cues from the façade of local shophouses in the ‘Late Shophouse Style’, popular in the 1900s to 1940s. Many of these late-style shophouses can be found in the Little India and Jalan Besar neighbourhoods and are characterised by their spectacular use of ornamentation, as well as their synthesis of different ethnic traditions. The circular design of the Jalan Besar Earrings can be seen in the decorative vents on these splendid façades.
